Qingxu Taoist Temple is the biggest Taoist
Temples in this old city. According to the traditional
arrangement, it is sitting in the northern section
of the East Street. Qingxu Taoist Temple is started
to build in the year of 657 and its original name
is Taiping Taoist Temple and changed to the present
name in the year of 1064. In the year of 1998,
it became the Pingyao combined museum. |

As the founder of Chinese Money Exchange
Shop as well as the first manager of Ri Shengchang,
Lei Futai first went in for the large-scale
construction and built houses when he began
to rise in business just like those merchants
from the north of china. His former residence
is NO11 West Gate Street which has a history
of more than 180 years. The whole courtyard
is located in the north and was composed of
two main courtyards and two side courtyards.

Wangjia Courtyard has a history of about
5 thousand years and it is Ming dynasty architecture.
Its total area is about 150 thousand square meters
and 45 thousand meters has been listed in the
provincial antique to preserve. Nowadays three
architectural groups including the Gaojia Cliff,
the Red Gate Fort and the Xiaoyi Ancestral Shrine
which are respectively built in different periods
of times in Qing dynasty are named the Chinese
People Art Museum or Wangjia Museum. The whole
area is about 45 thousand square meters and the
architecture includes 123 big and small courtyards
and 1118 houses. |
